Maurice was adopted by Francis and Sarah (nee Morgan) Eagles who were actually his grandparents, Sarah's parents. It does have Sarah on his birth certificate but the other children did not seem to know about this and thought he was just adopted as Sarah and Francis had adopted other children as well. So effectively he was raised as his birth mother's brother. My cousin visited one of his elderly sisters, Lillian, some years ago and she had no knowledge of his real parents.
